(Phnom Penh): The Sports Hall of Samdech Pichey Sena Tea Banh, organized by the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces Sports Center (RCAF), was officially inaugurated in the morning of October 31, 2024, under the presidency of H.E. General Khim Bunsong, Secretary of State of the Ministry of National Defense and Chairman of the RCAF Sports Council, the high representative of Samdech Pichey Sena Tea Banh, Supreme Advisor to the King.
His Excellency General said: “I firmly believe that the achievements of the new sports hall that were officially inaugurated reflect the efforts to develop both soft and hard structures, especially to enhance the human resources capacity in the field of Kun Khmer in the RCAF, which is receiving overwhelming support from the Cambodian people and to promote the development of Kun Khmer to become more famous on the international stage in the future.
On the other hand, this achievement has confirmed the position of the Ministry of National Defense in promoting and supporting the development of sports in the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces in accordance with the Pentagon Strategic Policy Program, Phase 1, under the wise and energetic leadership with modern and progressive vision of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
According to the report, H.E. Khov Chhay, Director of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces Sports Center, stated that: Sports Hall of Samdech Pichey Sena Tea Banh was renovated and rebuilt in late 2023 under the financial support of the Ministry of National Defense of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. In addition, the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces Sports Center will continue to pay attention to building a number of additional infrastructures, including the seating place to watch the football, administrative halls, parking lots, roads and other infrastructures to contribute to training, competitions, especially promoting the development of sports with the Royal Government to further raise the country's profile on the international stage.
It should be noted that: In the past, the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces Sports Center has made significant contributions to promoting the development of high-level sports, participating in the national and international competitions, and winning many medals and trophies for the motherland. Especially during the 32nd SEA Games 2023 in Cambodia, athletes of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces Sports Center won a total of 111 medals, including 33 gold medals, 25 silver medals, and 53 bronze medals.
