Over 1,800 athletes from 50 countries around the world will participate in the 8th Angkor Ultra Trail 2025 in Angkor area, Siem Reap province on January 18, 2025. This was stated by H.E. Vath Chamroeun, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC).
His Excellency said that according to the latest preliminary information, over 1,800 athletes from 50 countries have registered to participate in the 8th Angkor Ultra Trail this weekend, and the countries with the most participating athletes are: France, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand and the United States. Most of the athletes arrived in Siem Reap two to three days before the event will begin.
H.E. Vath Chamroeun continued that: “Registration of national and international athletes in the event of the 8th Angkor Ultra-Trail, this year, has been carried out as planned. The preparation process has also been carried out smoothly, with good cooperation from the Siem Reap administration and authorities, as well as the coordination of the Apsara Authority and the Angkor institution, which has urged the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC) and the French side (Phoenix Voyages Company) to make the preparation process better.”
His Excellency confirmed that: “Now participants have arrived in Siem Reap, some of them came 2 or 3 days earlier, especially for participants running 100 kilometers to prepare and train. This long coming and long staying is what we want, which provides benefits for tourism, economy and helps tour operators in Siem Reap. This event is an important part of the Royal Government’s policy that allowed NOCC to organize this.”
It should be noted that: The 8th Angkor Ultra-Trail Event in 2025 will be organized in 6 disciplines, including 100 kilometers, 64 kilometers, 42 kilometers, 32 kilometers, 18 kilometers and 8 kilometers.
