Phnom Penh: H.E. Major General Khov Chhay, President of the Kun Khmer Federation, announced in a press conference in the morning of April 1 that, the Kun Khmer Federation will lead four Kun Khmer athletes to compete in the United States in Long Beach, California at 6:00 PM on April 12, 2025, corresponding to April 13, 2025 at 8:00 AM in Cambodia.
His Excellency President of the Federation, said that, this is the first Kun Khmer mission to lead male and female Kun Khmer athletes to compete in the United States on a large scale, and this is also the first Cambodian history, that the Federation has led Kun Khmer to compete and promote in the United States, a powerful country with the diverse population, including many Cambodian people living there. Therefore, promoting Kun Khmer in the United States is the most important thing that our Kun Khmer must do to make people who have been living in the United States, which has a population of more than 300 million people, can know Kun Khmer, which proves that Kun Khmer has the ability to reach all directions.
H.E. Khov Chhay confirmed that, the four Kun Khmer athletes, such as a female athlete Ae Yanut, a male athlete Pich Sambath, a male athlete Reong Saophoan and a male athlete Thun Rithy, all of whom will compete against American opponents who are all high-level athletes. The four Kun Khmer fighters will compete for belts, in that Ae Yanut and Reong Saophoan competing for the Cambodia-US Belt, which is exported from Cambodia in 3 rounds. As for Thun Rithy and Pich Sambath, they will compete for the WCK Kun Khmer Belt in the United States in 5 rounds, by using the same rules of Kun Khmer.
H.E. Khov Chhay, President of the Kun Khmer Federation, emphasized that, this is another new mission, which Kun Khmer Athletes go to compete and promote in the United States. This is a new historical event for Cambodia, the Kun Khmer athletes go to compete and promote Kun Khmer on a large scale.
The President of the Federation emphasized that, the organization of the competition in the United States is in partnership with the WCK organization, which has a license to organize the competitions in the United States, especially in California, while this competition uses the name of Kun Khmer entirely, including decorations, under the sponsorship of Vattanac Brewery (Krud Beer).
