(Washington): Boxing will continue to be a part of mixed martial arts event in the Summer Olympic Games, especially in LA 2028, which will be hosted by the United States.

This means that the grueling fighting sport will still be present to compete for medals at the world's biggest event every four years since 1904.

Remembering that, Boxing was among many sports that were announced to be removed from LA 2028, but last month the World Boxing Federation acknowledged and to include this sport in to the Olympic Games by waiting a final decision from the International Olympic Committee (IOC), headed by Thomas Bach.

Related to this issue, Mr. Bach said on Monday, as quoted by the BBC, that "after receiving the agreement from World Boxing in February 2025, the positive result in the decision will allow athletes to compete for medals in LA in the future."

It is noteworthy that, the IOC has led boxing at the Olympics for the last two years after the International Boxing Federation (IBA) was suspended in 2019 due to management, financial, refereeing and disciplinary issues.
