H.E. Vath Chamroeun: We must strengthen development on the knowledge resources to respond to the development of the national society

Phnom Penh: Speaking at the opening ceremony of the training seminar to strengthen the capacity of national coaches and national teams in the morning of November 20, 2024, H.E. Vath Chamroeun, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, said that: The Royal Government of Cambodia has set a strategic goal for Cambodia to become an upper-middle-income country by 2030 and a high-income country by 2050.

His Excellency said: We must strengthen our development of knowledge resources to respond to the development of the national society. Therefore, the sports sector is also an important resource in the development of human resources. If athletes, who are the important resources for the nation in the future, do not receive knowledge, skills, and a culture of living and do not set clear goals, they will not be able to reach the strategic goals of the Royal Government set for 2030 and 2050.

The training course on strengthening the capacity of the national coaches and national teams that we have conducted recently is to boost up the ability of coaches to become the coaches with standard skills and train the national team with high professionalism, help athletes become high-level sports potential for the nation. The compilation of high-level sports with high techniques and high-level sports quality is the key person that are only coaches. And if coaches are capable and wise in good leadership, they can pull our high-level sports up.

H.E. Vath Chamroeun explained that: Now the plan of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports has been put forward to the National Sports Federation to strengthen professional capacity and strengthen leadership, meaning that to strengthen skills focused on coaches and strengthen leadership and management, namely strengthening the Secretary General of the Federation. If in each National Sports Federation, there are coaches with good leadership skills and the Secretary General with a clear plan to help further guide that direction, it will help our sports quality develop into a high-level sport with potential.

It should be noted that: This workshop was organized in the morning of November 20, 2024 at the National Sports Training Center, which has for 3 days from November 20-22, 2024, while H. E. Vath Chamroeun was also the instructor.
