H.E. Thong Khon: Attending the Olympic Games, Athletes Must Strive to Break Their Records

Phnom Penh: H.E. Dr. Thong Khon, Senior Minister in Charge of Special Missions, Representative of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Meets Athletes to Participate in the Olympic Games in Paris, France from July 26 to 11 August 2024. The meeting was held at the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia in the morning of July 17, 2024.

HE Thong Khon said that for the Olympic Games is the largest sporting event in the world, any athlete has a dream to participate in this event. Accordingly, we, the athletes representing the Kingdom of Cambodia, when we have the opportunity to participate in the competition, must try our best to compete, especially to break our old record in response to the spirit of sports, win by justice, and lose with honor.

H.E. Senior Minister emphasized that as a sports athlete to participate in the national representative must strive to avoid all violations of the rules and regulations of the competition, respect the ethics and avoid the use of DOPING Substance, which are prohibited in sports that can cause to the dignity of the nation. At the same time, His Excellency requested to all delegates and athletes to adhere to the dignified behavior for representing Cambodia, avoiding other violations in events that affect to the National Honor, especially, banning on the use of social media to spread out the slightest negativity of the host and please join to spread the good news of the event to the people of Cambodia as Olympic athletes. Please tell what of the good value of effort on the organizing of this big event.

H.E. Dr. Senior Minister also thanked Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, for his great consideration for sports and athletes which are attending in the Olympic Games. Samdech has provided $ 500 per participant and as an encouragement our athletes.

It should be noted that Cambodia has 3 athletes in 2 sports to participate in the Olympic Games in Paris, France, including an athletics player, Mr. Chhun Bunthon, and 2 swimming players, Koson de Labrarong, Angtwang Martin Claude and a female player Sak Bun Apsara Katarina. All three are eligible to attend in this event.

The 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris, France will start from July 26 to August 11, 2024. The three Cambodia athletes will leave Phnom Penh on Sunday, July 21, 2024 with the opening ceremony attended by H.E. Dr. Senior Minister Thong Khon and H.E. Vath Chamroeun, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, while the closing ceremony was attended by H.E. Ly Kosal, Secretary of State of the Ministry of National Defense and Members of the Executive Committee of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia.
