Phnom Penh: The event of the 2nd ITF Taekwondo Southeast Asian Championship will officially begin in the afternoon of June 28, 2025 at the National Olympic Stadium, with 6 participating countries, including Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, and North Korea.
Speaking at the press conference yesterday evening, H.E. Phan Vanrath, First Vice President of the ITF Cambodia Taekwondo Federation, said: Cambodia’s hosting of this ITF event is not just the Southeast Asian championship. That is, we have the ambition to organize reaching the Asian level in the future. This means that by hosting major events, we want to show and promote to the international community that Cambodia is peaceful, prosperous, and safe for tourists to come and enjoy without worries.
His Excellency continued that: The competition of the Southeast Asian Taekwondo Championship will last for 3 days from June 28-30, with 6 countries in Southeast Asia. And they are all top-ranked athletes from their countries, while Cambodian athletes have also selected strong and top athletes, because in each competition, all participating countries want to win medals to bring back to their country for the reputation and image of the country.
At the same time, the First Vice President also called on the public who love sports to not forget to come and watch to encourage athletes who will compete from tomorrow at the National Stadium. The public's support and encouragement shows the culture of mutual respect and shows the smiles of the Cambodian people.
It should be noted that, the opening ceremony of the 2nd Southeast Asian Championship Selection Competition, which hosted by Cambodia, will begin at 3 pm, under the presidency of H.E. Hun Many.
