The National Olympic Committee of Cambodia has decided to send athletes to participate in the competition of the Asian Winter Games 2025, which will be held in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, China, from February 7 to 14.

H.E. Vath Chamroeun, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, said that, this is the first time in the history of Cambodian sports that athletes will participate in the competition of the Asian Winter Games.

H.E. Secretary-General said: "This is the first time for Cambodia, as a tropical and hot country, to have a sports team participating in the Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China. This is a proud for Cambodia, which is recorded in the history at the first time to participate in the Asian Winter Games.

This is the policy and vision of the International Olympic Committee, which allows countries with hot climates and no cold or ice to promote the Winter Games as much as possible, but we must participate in the competition. This urging, was successful in 2025, when we have received the training scholarship in South Korea through the Dream Program, which Pongchhang City, South Korea, has helped train and coach our athletes to participate in the Games. So please support and encourage them in this competition, which is the history for us. From 2025 onwards, Cambodia will begin participating in the Winter Games."

For the sport that Cambodia will send to participate, it is the Luge Sport, with a total of 9 delegates, coaches and athletes.

It should be noted that: the Asian Winter Games, first held in 1986 in Sapporo, Japan, are held every four years. This year 2025 is the 9th time, with athletes from 34 countries will be competed in 11 sports, divided into 64 disciplines.
