Two main purposes of hosting Asian MMA Championship 2024

The National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC)’s Secretary General, H.E. Vath Chamroeun, said that there are two primary reasons why Cambodia is hosting the 2nd Asian Mixed Martial Arts Championship 2024.

“First, to help athletes have the opportunity to participate in high-level competitions. Asia is a country of martial arts origins. Cambodia is also the oldest source of martial arts in history, as it has inherited the original martial arts from India, but does not mean that the martial arts were completely taken from India. Even China and Korea’s martial arts were influenced by India. Thus, it is an opportunity to promote our martial arts ,” he said. 

“Second, integrate martial arts and help our athletes to understand the rules of the game. The competition is not entirely about winning or losing. It is about honoring, beating, scoring and respecting the rules of the Asian Games,” he added. 

H.E. Vath Chamroeun went on to say that this MMA competition aims to put MMA in the Olympics Games. The primary objective for Cambodia is to formally admit mixed martial arts competitors from the country into the global scene.

More than 17 nations have registered thus far, and it is anticipated that more than 20 nations will do so by the deadline.

Pheng Sopanha, Long La, Rin Sarath, Hun Kim Heang, Meas Mer, Sen Chanrithikun, Hun Chanreach, Thean An, Chan Ratana, Evira Khamchit, Hat Phi, Khieu Chenda Rath, Nou Srey Pov, Kantha Van Nita, Ou Tharoth, and Toun Srey Pin are among the 16 fighters that Cambodia is getting ready for. 

It should be noted that the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, will join the opening ceremony as the honorable guest.
