Svay Rieng and Young Elephants get ready for the ASEAN Club Cup play-off's second leg

"It is an important match to go to the next round, which is the group stage," Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng coach Pep Munoz stated prior to the second leg of the AFF Club Championship 2024 play-off

“We are aware of the Young Elephants' singularity. Good young foreign players are on their team, but we will try to score and win,” he added.

Phoutpasong Sengdalavong, the coach of Young Elephants, stated that returning to Cambodia is an honour. Even though it will be difficult, there is still hope because this is the second game.

It should be noted that the second leg will be held at the National Olympic Stadium at 7 pm on Wednesday, July 24. The first leg took place at the Lao National Stadium in Vientiane, Svay Rieng, beating the host Young Elephants 3-2. At that time, goalkeeper Vireak Dara and goalkeeper of Laos team received the same red card, so both will not be present for the second leg. 

The winner of the play-offs will advance to Group A with Thailand’s BG Pathum United, Malaysia’s Terengganu, Indonesia’s PSM Makassar and Vietnam’s Dong A Thanh Hoa. Another play-off team is Brunei Kasuka against Myanmar Shan United.

Group B features Thailand’s Buriram United, Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur City, Vietnam’s Cong An Hanoi, Indonesia’s Borneo, Philippines’s Kaya-Ilolo and Singapore’s Lion City Sailors.

The competition's group stage will begin on August 21, 2024. Each group's top two teams will move on to the semi-final.
