Cambodian athletes of three sports go to train in China with the help of Dr. Gordon Tang

(Phnom Penh): A team of 6 Cambodian national athletes in 3 sports this morning, September 2, went to train in China to strengthen the capacity and high quality with professional teachers at the Most Advanced Sports Development Center in Guangdong province to prepare for international competitions.


Going out to train to strengthen this ability including: Gymnastics (Male player, Ten Vandet and Pheap Yung), Weightlifting (Female player Chey Saosocheata and Try Sopheakreach) and Fencing (Male player Thong Tangjing and Female player Yi Lisa).


H.E. Noy Phana, Representative of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC), told reporters before leading the Cambodian athletes to train in China, this training will train for four months from the beginning of September until the end of 2024 under the direct assistance of Dr. Gordon Tang, Vice President of the NOCC, aims to prepare for the SEA Games 2025, the Asian Youth Games 2025 and is the grass roof to host the Asian Youth Games 2029.

The Secretary General of the Cambodia Gymnastics Federation said that: This training trip to China, His Excellency is very optimistic about all Cambodian athletes, if they make the effort with determination and will, they will get back the excellent quality, because the sports center in Guangdong is one of the most advanced sports development centers, where even European athletes as well as Chinese athletes from other provinces, also go there to reinforce the capacity building.

His Excellency added that: "Four months of training in China, because our athletes already have a good base from Cambodia, is easy. Our hope is to increase their quality towards 2025, and in 2025 we can continue this project and preparing until the SEA Games 2025 in Thailand. "I believe that if our players have a specific effort, and have commitment to do things for themselves and for the nation, I believe that will get good quality and can get good results".


Therefore, the important task of Cambodian athletes is to seize this opportunity, try to train to the best of their ability, while the three national sports federations must also be clear and responsible for the training of athletes. That is, to adhere by the strictest discipline, to avoid the ethics of the training ground, as well as to stay and eat in order to achieve a higher quality in response to the trust of the leaders, especially donors.


H.E. Noy Phana continued, "On behalf of the Olympic Committee of Cambodia, I would like to thank Dr. Gordon Tang for always providing support for the development of sports, both financially and technically, to the Cambodian athletes, especially the facilitation of sending Cambodian athletes to train in China now and thanks to the cooperation between the Chinese side to provide a place for our athletes to train there under the project of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, with the help of Mr. Gordon Tang went to train in an effective and efficient place and quality.

In addition, on behalf of the National Sports Federation and all athletes, His Excellency also thanked to the attention of H.E. Dr. Senior Minister Thong Khon, President of the NOCC and H.E. Vath Chamroeun, Secretary General of the NOCC and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, that always thinking and paying attention to the National Sports Federations and Cambodian athletes, especially, the support and agreement to send Cambodian athletes to train in China now.


His Excellency expected that: This good project will contribute significantly to the development of the capacity and technique to Cambodian athletes to grow up further.
