Cambodia Badminton Team Congratulated by the Samdech Borvor Thipadei After Winning 14 Medals From the Asian Youth Championship

The Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet Prime Minister of Cambodia sends a congratulatory message to the Cambodia youth badminton team, which won 14 medals at the Badminton Asia Southeast Asia Regional Junior Championships 2024 in Laos.

 

The Asian Youth Badminton Event, co-organized and sponsored by the Asian Badminton Federation (BA), was held from May 22-26, 2024 in Vientiane, Laos, with athletes from five countries participating as like as the host country Laos, Myanmar, East Timor, Brunei and Cambodia.  

After completing the good mission with the above achievements on Sunday night, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet posted a message of congratulating to the Cambodia Badminton Team as following: "Congratulations to the Cambodia Badminton Team who won 14 medals, (4 silver and 10 bronze medals) in the Asian Youth Badminton Championships”.

 

H.E Cheam Sophea, Secretary General of the Badminton Federation of Cambodia, said that: Among the medals won by the Cambodia Badminton Team, as like as the Cambodia U17 team won 2 silver and 4 bronze medals and the U15 team won 1 silver and 5 bronze. In the Mix Team Event, the U15 team won one silver medal and the U17 team won one bronze medal. 

The Secretary General of the Federation said that: Although this mission did not win a gold medal, but this achievement is a positive sign for the resources of the Cambodia Badminton Championship, even if athletes sent by the Federation to participate in this tournament in Laos, as most of the players are the young athletes, just participated in the first international competition and is younger than the limit. Therefore, it is a good experience for them to develop their skills and work harder for a better future in their badminton career. 

It should be noted that: The BA SEA Regional Junior Championships was the first organizing in 2023,which started from Cambodia under the development project of the Asian Badminton Federation to countries with less potential in the badminton to promote the development and ensure the training of resources, to participate in the international competitions such as the SEA Games by providing opportunities for young local athletes to compete and demonstrate their abilities in this international event.
