The Cambodia Kun Bokator Federation will put on a display of both the Cambodian traditional martial art Kun Bokator and the Chinese martial art Shaolin for the first time at Bayon Temple in Siem Reap on April 24, as requested by the Ministry of Tourism.
The event will be hosted at the Northern part of Bayon Temple from 7:30 in the morning.
H.E. Vath Chamroeun, Secretary General of Cambodia's National Olympic Committee, noted that the performance is performed to commemorate the "Year of People's and People's Change of Cambodia-China 2024" and to build links between the two nations' ancient martial arts. This bilateral collaborative performance is the first stage, as the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia intends to conduct a Martial Arts Day or World Martial Arts in front of Angkor Wat. Cambodia's Prime Minister, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, has agreed to host it next year.
H.E. Vath Chamroeun noted that this event will boost tourism and the economy while also increasing the value of Khmer martial arts, including Kun Khmer and Kun Bokator. He stated that what is more unique is to display of old martial arts in front of the wonders of Angkor Achaogist Park. The UNESCO delegation will be asked to participate in these activities.
