The Kun Khmer International Federation (KIF) intends to launch an official brand to promote and attract martial art enthusiasts around the world. The term "brand" refers to a large event or competition that promotes the Khmer martial art to the rest of the world, according to His Excellency Vath Chamroeun, Secretary General of the KIF, following a recent executive committee meeting.
His Excellency Vath Chamroeun, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport and Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC), said that the KIF and the Kun Khmer Federation's mission is to promote and preserve the Khmer traditional martial art on a national and international stage. To ensure the effectiveness of this work, he said, more information about the martial art, also known as 'Kun Khmer Education', must be disseminated.
“Kun Khmer competition entails competing under suitable regulations that protect fighters from serious mishaps, known as 'Kun Khmer Education'.This should be widely pushed to the younger generation of Kun Khmer enthusiasts so that they understand that practicing Kun Khmer is only beneficial to their health, friendship, and physical fitness. Practicing Kun Khmer is not intended to create disagreements or violent behavior. This is known as 'Kun Khmer Education',” said His Excellency Vath Chamroeun.
“Furthermore, to revive, flourish, and maintain strong momentum among national and international fans, we are working to make Kun Khmer more professional. We want Kun Khmer to be more formal, with correct regulations and management. When we can do so, we will be able to promote Kun Khmer to a wider and increasing audience via the brand that we intend to develop. The brand we aim to develop is similar to ONE FC or UFC,” he added.
His Excellency Vath Chamroeun said that the KIF has a few options to establish the brand, such as the KKFC or Kun Khmer Fight, from which the federation will choose one. With this, members of the KIF all across the world support the notion of developing this brand, he said.
His Excellency Vath Chamroeun added that once the federation has finalized the brand, the KIF will utilize the chosen name in the fifth edition of the 'World Kun Khmer', which will be held in Siem Reap from December 6 to 8.
