The 5th World Kun Khmer Championship Has 24 Participating Countries

The International Kun Khmer Federation will organize the 5th World Kun Khmer Championship in front of the Royal Garden in Siem Reap Province from December 6 to 8, 2024.

H.E. Meam Ra, President of the International Kun Khmer Federation, said that: This 5th competition is bigger than before, with more male and female athletes participating and following up the pattern of the SEA Games and the Olympic Games. At the same time, there are also professional competitions with famous players such as Prom Samnang, Moeun Sokhuch, and the previous champion, Korommak Chanreach. The participating countries are Kyrgyzstan, Iran, France, the United States, etc. There are a total of 118 male and female athletes from 24 countries. In that, France has the most athletes are 17 persons. Out of that, there are 18 international technical officials, who from 18 countries, while referees and judges from the Cambodia Kun Khmer Federation are also participating.

At the same time, H.E. Meam Ra emphasized that: Out of the professional athletes, there are also young players aged from 10 to 13, which will compete against India players. The young male players aged from 14 to 17 from various countries and there are volunteer players and semi-professional players aged from 18 to 35 years old. This competition, the International Kun Khmer Federation also aims to prepare the young athletes for the Asian Youth Games 2029 and the Olympic Games 2032, how to get Kun Khmer to participate.

H.E. Miem Ra said that: The International Kun Khmer Federation currently has 60 member countries and aims to reach 100 countries. To achieve this goal, the Federation will organize the continental competitions, with participation of Cambodia. In this regard, the Federation plans to go to France, Africa, Australia, South Korea, and return back to Asia, and then continue to Canada and organize the American continental championship. From April 2025, there will be two-monthly preparations for each continent.

Related to clubs which will be participating in the World Kun Khmer Championship, the Federation will give priority to clubs in the provinces around Siem Reap Province, such as Battambang, Kampong Thom, and Banteay Meanchey.
