Cambodia gets the hosting right of the Asian Kickboxing Championships 2024 with 600 athletes from 22 countries

(Phnom Penh): Cambodia will host the Asian Kickboxing Championships 2024 on October 6-13, will coming soon, while there are more than 600 athletes who from 22 countries have already registered to participate in this biennial event.


The President of the Cambodia Kickboxing Federation, Mr. Heng Sokkhon, said that: Due to the brilliant achievements of the SEA Games 2023, has urged the Board of the Asian Kickboxing Federation, has decided to choose the Phnom Penh Capital City to host the Asian Kickboxing Championships 2024 without hesitation to provide opportunities to let the athletes who from all countries and regions in Asia to demonstrate their abilities in the beautiful capital city of Cambodia.

He said that so far, more than 600 athletes from 22 countries have already registered to participate in the first historical event in Cambodia, in that, Iraq and Iran are the countries that have registered to send athletes to participate in the competition with the maximum is more than 60 athletes per country, while some countries send more than 40 athletes, and Cambodia also has more than 50 athletes to welcome the athletes who come from other countries.


On behalf of the Federation, he expressed his pride that the International Federation as well as the countries in Asia has expressed confidence on Cambodia, especially, the peace factor that encouraged them to register to participate in large numbers. However, registration is not yet complete, due to the commission is planning to close on September 30. Therefore, he expects that the number of athletes to participate in the Asian Championships in Cambodia may increase further.

It should be noted that: The Asian Kickboxing Championship 2024 is scheduled to be held every two years, while in 2022, the event was held in Bangkok, Thailand. This is the first time that Cambodia has hosted the major competition in Asia after the International and Asian Kickboxing Federation, have seen the potential and well organizing of the host of the 32nd SEA Games in 2023. The competition is divided into 3 levels, such as, Full Contact, Low Kick and K1.
