Phnom Penh: Before the friendly football match between Cambodia and Thailand, the Century of Dharma Award will be presented in the afternoon of March 8, 2025 at the National Olympic Stadium. The teams from both countries, Cambodia and Thailand, met at the Sofitel Phnom Penh Phukitra Hotel in the afternoon of the 7th to present the composition of each team, especially to show the bonds of solidarity and friendship.
In that meeting, there were four teams from both countries, under the honorary participation of H.E. Khleang Huot, Deputy Governor of the Phnom Penh Municipal Government, H.E. Khov Chhay, President of the Kun Khmer Federation, and Dr. Suphachhai Wirakphuchong, Coordinator of the Thai side.
Meanwhile, H.E. Khleang Huot, Deputy Governor of the Phnom Penh Municipal Government, said that, the sports competitions always have winners and losers, but the friendly match between two teams, the Cambodian and Thai football teams, this afternoon win or lose is only the results of match, meaning that for friendship, we win together in the event to celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Thailand. His Excellency hopes and believes that this afternoon’s match will be a match between Cambodia and Thailand that will be played with pride, demonstrating the long-standing friendship.
At the same time, H.E. Khov Chhay, President of the Kun Khmer Federation and co-founder of the initiative for the Century of Dharma Award Friendly Football Event to celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Thailand, emphasized that this historic event will create a culture of peaceful living between the two nations as countries in the same Mekong sub-region and neighboring countries with similar cultures and civilizations.
His Excellency added that, of course, in the football match, one side must win and the other side must lose, but the result of losing and winning is just a result. What we are meeting this afternoon is that we all win, we are united in building good deeds and building peace, because peace is very difficult to find, to achieve peace, many lives must be sacrificed. At the same time, the representatives of both Cambodia and Thailand teams have all shown their friendship and solidarity with each other, and each of them hopes that this friendly match will become another new historical picture as well as the nations of the two countries.
It should be noted that: For this afternoon's match, Pair 1 – Kun Khmer All Star Vs Muay Thai All Star. Pair 2 - Cambodia Football Stars Vs Thailand Football Stars, which will be attended by H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and H.E. Maris Sangyeomphong, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand.
