The Kun Khmer Competition was organized by members of the Kun Khmer International Federation (KIF) in Iran to demonstrate that this is the Khmer Martial Arts of Cambodia and to prepare for participation in the World Kun Khmer Championship in December 2024 in Cambodia.
This is according to H.E. Vath Chamroeun, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sport and Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia.
The president of the Kun Khmer Federation in Iran, a KIF member, Mr. SEYEDREZA MOUSAVI, according to H.E. Vath Chamroeun, gave Iranian youth the chance to train and compete as champions in Iran.
There are currently 51 members of the international Khmer martial arts, which is a source of pride for the Khmer people since they have introduced the traditional martial arts to other nations.
Simultaneously, the objective is to increase the KIF's membership in order for Cambodia to join the World Olympic Movement as an officially recognized member; to do this, the federation needs members from 75 different nations. There are 51 members of Cambodia as of September 2024.
“ KIF was founded by Cambodia in 2015.We had only 29 members at first, but after they submitted membership applications, our membership has grown to 51 countries.
In order to contact the IOC, we can draw in more than 75 participating nations," he remarked.
"We work hard to enhance our internal capabilities and establish legal guidelines to oversee and guide the global Khmer martial arts order, which serves as the foundation for the advancement and conservation of Khmer martial arts," he continued.
