Wrestling coaches who gained the knowledge from the Olympic Solidarity Course will contribute more to Cambodian coaching resources

Phnom Penh: In the closing ceremony of the Olympic Solidarity Project on the Development of the National Sports System for Wrestling in the morning of October 16, 2024, Mr. Casey Barnett, Vice President of the Wrestling Federation of Cambodia, said that the participants are wrestling coaches from the provinces, who participated in this 12-day training program will be important to share the pedagogical knowledge of wrestling which provided by Marty Hauck, a gold medalist in the United States.

He stressed that through the Olympic Solidarity Course, it will contribute to the production of more young wrestling resources in the provinces, as this is the first time and has trained coaches in Province.

H.E. Buy Sophoan, Advisor to the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, praised and appreciated to the participants who worked hard to absorb the new knowledge from the international trainer related to the technical principles of wrestling coaching to develop knowledge on coaching skills.

His Excellency emphasized that: This Olympic Solidarity Project on Development of National Sports System of Wrestling is a part of the national sports system development project for 5 months from July 1 to November 30, 2024 focusing on four main objectives, including:

 

1. Creating a new policy for competing and coaching to be highly effective for the national wrestling.

 2. Program to identify talents and seeking to take care of young wrestlers to be successful.

 3. To organize the training courses for coaches and officials, referees, judges to develop skills and ensure the sustainability of wrestling in the country.

 4. Developing the human resources and organize the competing system to prepare for the Asian Youth Games 2029 that hosted by Cambodia.

 

On behalf of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, I would like to express my appreciation to the Cambodia Wrestling Federation for having a clear vision and strategic plan to develop the resources of athletes, technical officers and coaches. The National Olympic Committee of Cambodia is pleasured to continue its cooperation with the Federation on strengthening the qualifications of national athletes and training of coaches to develop wrestling into a potential Olympic-level sport in the future.

It should be noted that the Olympic Solidarity Project on the Development of the National Sports System for Wrestling has 12 days from October 7 to 18, 2024 at the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, taught by Mr. Marty Hauck, American wrestling instructor which the World Wrestling Federation sent under the International Olympic Solidarity Project.
