Phnom Penh: With the permission of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and the decision in principle from H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister, a group of youth athletes aged 14 to 17 from sports that will compete in the 2025 Asian Youth Games in Bahrain have begun training from April 1 until the end of the competition in late October 2025.
H.E. Vath Chamroeun, Chairman of selecting commission of the National Athletes and Grassroots Youth, said: "What the commission needs to do is to work hard with the National Sports Federations to select talented athletes with high technical level and high sports quality, to select coaches with good skills, experience, time conditions and good coaches who can train athletes well. Both coaches and athletes must be looked at the selection criteria in a comprehensive manner so that to avoid incorrect selection, without considering the true talent of the athletes and coaches, which affects the quality of the sport. We have already decided to select the grassroots youth and coaches. We have worked hard to seek training, encouragement, and monitoring from the National Sports Training Center and the Ministry to ensure that the training process is properly monitored and evaluated according to sports science."
