Phnom Penh: Mr. Sem Phalla, Executive Director of Marathon Organizer in Cambodia, confirmed that the presence of Samdech Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia in the 29th International Half Marathon at Angkor Wat, Siem Reap Province, which will take place on December 1, 2024 is a driving force to increase the number of participants and provide more warmth to the participants.
The statement of this Executive Director said at a press conference of the 29th International Half Marathon Day at Angkor Wat in the afternoon of September 27, 2024 at the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia.
This Executive Director further explained that: the International Half Marathon Day at Angkor Wat in Siem Reap Province could become a traditional event for Cambodia, as from year to year, the number of participants, both national and international, is constantly increasing.
He said that the participation of the head of the Royal Government of Cambodia to show the presence of running with national and international guests in this event, is helping to promote a more standardized organization in accordance to the international standards, meaning that the running of guests is safe, roads are blocks does not make runners do worry and anxious, running with confidently and happily.
The above Executive Director emphasized that the presence of Samdech Borvor Thipadei is a part of helping to push Cambodia to become a country with a large number of participants and a good ranking of 5 stars, which is the goal of Cambodia ready to compete with other countries in the world.
It should be noted that: The International Half Marathon Day at Angkor Wat, Siem Reap Province was established since 1996 with only 300 to 400 first runners, while the 29th International Half Marathon Day in 2024 is expected to have more than 10,000 participants.
