Going to compete in the Asian Youth Games 2025 in Bahrain, no matter how many athletes, Cambodia focuses on quality. This was stated by H.E. Vath Chamroeun, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia.
H.E. Secretary General made this statement during a meeting with the National Sports Federations with the athletes, who will compete in the Asian Youth Games 2025 in Bahrain to review the work process in both administrative and technical aspects.
H.E. Vath Chamroeun elaborated as follows: "Among the sports we are sending, we have not yet determined how many athletes we will send. The number is under the evaluation of the selecting commission and will be requested for a decision from H.E. Dr. Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Education, Youth and Sports. So, depending on the qualifications of the athletes who have potential, have high sporting achievements, and can win, we will prepare accordingly". We also respect the principle of preparedness in providing the opportunities that we can receive from the Ministry of Economy and Finance. Therefore, we must determine that even if we go less or large, but it must be effective with quality. Going less can be good, going more can be good, this is our main thing."
Related to the preparation process, H.E. Vath Chamroeun said that, "Most national sports federations have completed a lot of work, especially work related to documents such as passports, doping-related documents, etc. The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport will establish a commission to select athletes and delegates in a certain number. The National Sports Training Center will be responsible for the process. Participating in this youth Games event is also related to our preparing to host our next event. So, we have both sports delegates and arts-cultural delegates who are going to welcome them to Cambodia in 2029. What we need to prepare in time is that both the Directorate General of Sports and the National Sports Training Center and the National Sports Federation will have a lot of work to do, especially the National Sports Training Center has gathered, has additional knowledge training courses on skills and training plans, etc."
It should be noted that, the meeting on Friday morning, April 11, was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, the Directorate General of Sports, the National Sports Training Center and the Anti-Doping Agency.
