H.E. Vath Chamroeun Urges the Cambodian Air-Sport Federation to Strengthen the Infrastructure to prepare for National and International Events

Phnom Penh: In summarizing the work for 2024 and setting the direction for 2025 of the Cambodian Air-Sport Federation on November 2 at the office of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia recently, H.E. Vath Chamroeun, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia fully supports and encourages the Cambodian Air-Sport Federation to strengthen the infrastructure, sport administration and training efforts of athletes to be ready to participate in the national and international events.

The Air-Sport first appeared in Cambodia between 2000-2004 when the foreign tourists has been played in the seaside area of ​​Sihanoukville with carrying a machine of Paramotor and parachute flying were the most popular sport between 2005-2010. This Air-Sport was brought to Cambodia and continued to be developed by Mr. Teng Pengseang, currently is the president of the Cambodia Air-Sport Federation. 

His Excellency added that: After attending the recent meeting of the Southeast Asian Games Council in Bangkok, the host country, Thailand, has expressed its intention to include the Air-Sport in the 33rd SEA Games, only for the demonstration sport and the Thai Air-Sport Federation also requested Cambodia to participate.

 

Although, the air-sport has been included in the SEA Games, this is the first time and although the sports framework has not been showed, but at the next SEA Games, the air-sport may be included as a full-fledged sport to compete in this regional event.

Not only that, His Excellency also revealed that China has also contacted Cambodia to participate in the international competitions in its country, while China is inspiring and developing this sport as well. Therefore, His Excellency encouraged the federation to make more efforts to develop itself, both in terms of administration and infrastructure development, especially the development of high-level sports to prepare for all those international competitions.
