The International Kun Khmer Federation and members supported Indonesia’s proposal to host the 6th World Kun Khmer Championship

(Siem Reap): The International Kun Khmer Federation (KIF) and its member countries around the world have supported and agreed with the proposal of the Indonesia Kun Khmer Federation to host the 6th World Kun Khmer Championship 2025 after Cambodia, which will be held for the 5th time on December 6 to 8 this weekend in front of the Royal Palace Garden in Siem Reap.

The request to host of the Indonesia Kun Khmer delegates was made at the annual general assembly of the International Kun Khmer Federation in the evening of December 5, 2024 in Siem Reap, with leaders and delegates from all member countries attending to review the progress of development work and strengthen the international management structure of all member countries to be stronger, especially to promote more attractive competitions to promote the influence of Kun Khmer on the international stage.

As a result, the General Assembly achieved a great achievement in strengthening and expanding the members of the International Kun Khmer Federation, as well as taking a new step in applying to host the 6th World Kun Khmer Championship in 2026 of Indonesia after Cambodia received the 100% support from KIF member countries. This was confirmed by H.E. Vath Chamroeun, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC) and Secretary General of the Federation.

H.E. Vath Chamroeun continued that: “This is another new step from Cambodia to other countries by applying to host the 6th World Kun Khmer Championship in Indonesia, and we saw that the entire General Assembly supported this request, so we respect the majority opinion. Meanwhile, the International Kun Khmer Federation and our National Kun Khmer Federation will provide the technical support and this organization to be smooth and successful, as Cambodia has done in the past.”

Mr. Sudirman, President of the Indonesia Kun Khmer Federation, stated that the request to host the 6th World Kun Khmer Championship after he has received the green light from his government leaders, especially because he saw the value and greatness of Kun Khmer after this martial art which is a symbol of Khmer national identity, was included in the SEA Games in the past. He said that Kun Khmer has many special features and greatness. That is why Indonesia decided to apply to host the 6th World Kun Khmer Championship next year.

It should be noted that after the conclusion of the above general assembly, KIF cooperated with NOCC and the Kun Khmer Federation, as well as relevant authorities will organize the 5th World Kun Khmer Championship in front of the Royal Palace Park, Siem Reap City, Siem Reap Province, which will be held from December 6 to 8, 2024, with delegates and athletes from more than 20 countries participating, including many national and international technical officials.
