The President of the Cambodia Badminton Federation stated that, the Badminton competition to win the 7 January trophy is not only about participating in celebration and commemoration of the historical day of the liberation of the Cambodian people from the Pol Pot regime. It is also a competition platform to build friendship and solidarity.
The event of Badminton competition to win the 7 January Trophy, from 1979 - 2026, organized by the Cambodia Badminton Federation under the cooperation and support of the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Administration, which lasted for two days on the beautiful coastal area of Preah Sihanouk Province, ended with success beyond expectations.

The closing ceremony of competition was presided over by H.E. Ly Kosal, Secretary of State of the Ministry of National Defense and President of the Cambodia Badminton Federation, and H.E. Mang Sinet, Governor of the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Government, at the TR Hope Badminton Club in Sangkat No. 1, Preah Sihanouk City.
According to the report of H.E. Keo Ros, Secretary General of the Cambodia Badminton Federation, confirmed that, The Badminton competition to win the 7 January Trophy which is the 25th anniversary of Preah Sihanouk province hosted. There are 12 Badminton clubs participated in the competition, with a total of 195 delegates, coaches, and athletes, including 10 disciplines, 72 medals, and 98 matches.

With the strong competition held for 2 days, H.E. Mang Sinet, Governor of the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Government, has admired and expressed his high appreciation to the leaders and team work of the Cambodia Badminton Federation, as well as the competition organizing commission and all stakeholders who have worked hard with their physical strength, mental strength, wisdom, and technique to work as an important role in resolving all challenges and making the process of the badminton competition more accurate and achieving positive results.

His Excellency the Provincial Governor strongly believes that, the two-day competition will further inspire the badminton sport in Preah Sihanouk Province, attracting people of all ages to play badminton to gain health and develop badminton resources, moving towards the potential of province.

H.E. Ly Kosal said that, the event of Badminton competition to win the 7 January Trophy, established by the Cambodia Badminton Federation, was held to commemorate and celebrate January 7, 1979, the historic day that overthrew the Pol Pot-ruled Democratic Kampuchea regime, giving a second life to the Cambodian people. At the same time, His Excellency also highlighted that the Badminton competition to win the 7 January trophy is not only a celebration of the historic day, but also a competition platform that creates friendship and solidarity between badminton clubs from various provinces.

And what is more special is that it provides an opportunity for each player to fully express their talents, abilities, and measure the technical qualities they have trained in the past. And what is more important, this competition provides an opportunity for young athletes, who are an important resource in preparing for the 2031 Asian Youth Games, which Cambodia will host, to compete and demonstrate their technical abilities so that the federation can select and train them to become Badminton players with potential and compete with quality.
Meanwhile, His Excellency the President of the Federation reminded the winners who have won this time not to be too proud and victorious, but to continue to strive to improve their training skills regularly so that they can maintain their strength to develop themselves even more. As for the athletes who have not won, they should not be discouraged, but to increase their training to prepare for victory next year.
