The President of the Pickleball Federation of Cambodia hopes that, the presence of this new sport federation in Cambodia will be a part of contributing to the tourism and investment sectors come to Cambodia. The Pickleball Federation of Cambodia was declared an official national sport federation in the afternoon of January 29, 2026, which recognized by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and supported by the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia.
The announcement of recognition as the official national sport federation of Cambodia was made under the witnessing of Deputy Prime Minister Sok Chenda Sophea, Honorary President of the Pickleball Federation of Cambodia, and H.E. Vath Chamroeun, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia.
In the first mandate of 2026 to 2030, the composition of the Executive Committee consists of a total of 23 members such as H.E Lim Hournita, President, accompanied by 9 Vice Presidents, including the First Vice President, H.E Pon Sok, Secretary General, Mr. On Chentra Samrit, accompanied by 3 Deputy Secretaries General, Treasurer General Mr. Lim Hourmenghong, accompanied by 1 Deputy Treasurer General, and 7 executive members.
H.E. Lim Hournita, President of the Cambodia Pickleball Federation, said that the reason for deciding to bring this sport to Cambodia and establish this official national sport federation was to see that, this sport is popular and has many fans like to play this sport, both Cambodians and foreigners. In addition, this sport is an easy sport to play because it is a hybrid of 3 sports, similar to tennis, badminton, and table tennis.
His Excellency said that, to reach the official establishment of the federation at this time, this sport came to Cambodia in late 2024 and 2025, and the number of male and female players participating to play in this sport has reached more than 3,000 persons, while clubs have also flourished in many provinces and capitals.
His Excellency believed that, these three hybrid sports is a part to contribute attracting of tourists and investors to Cambodia. Currently, there are many foreign clubs established in Phnom Penh and in the provinces. Through the presence of this officially established federation, it will contribute to promoting the sports sector in Cambodia with greater potential.
H.E Vath Chamroeun, Secretary of State and Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, expressed his congratulations to the Cambodia Pickleball Federation, which received a decision from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports to establish an official national sport federation. With the official process of this national sport federation, there are two major duties: the first duty is to make Pickleball to be popular in the national society and the second, the federation has a mission to strengthen the technical skills of Cambodia Pickleball to reach the potential of sports benefits at the national, regional and international levels such as the world, etc. Therefore, these two duties are the main duties that the Cambodia Pickleball Federation adheres to in its strategic plan. His Excellency is confident that, in this first mandate, the federation will be successful in fulfilling its mission.
Please note that, Pickleball is a sport that originated in the United States in 1965 and has become very popular in the world with a large number of players only about 6 years ago, for countries in the region, including Malaysia, Vietnam, and several other countries, including Cambodia. For Cambodia, after established an official national sport federation, it is also preparing to create two major international competitions to help attracting tourism.
