Cambodia Wushu sets 3-year development plan to increase the number of high-quality female players and technical officers

Phnom Penh: The competition of the 2025 National Wushu Championship, sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and sponsored by Z.T.O., which ran for four days at the National Olympic Stadium, ended successfully in the morning of January 31, 2026.

Lork Oknha Srun Bunthat, President of the Cambodia Wushu Federation, expressed his determination to continue preparing a 3-year development plan, including both long-term and short-term training, especially strengthening the training plan to respond and prepare for the international competitions to win medals for the motherland. In addition, the federation also continues to attract more local competitions to increase the number of high-quality female players and technical officers. At the same time, the president of the above federation is determined to develop wushu to be beneficial for people of all ages to enjoy good health, both physically, mentally, and intellectually, and to help avoid various inactivity in society.

H.E. Ke Bunkheang, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, also stated that, this national championship is very important for athletes to develop their abilities to seize the opportunity to become national athletes and train to representing the country in the international competitions.

His Excellency also emphasized that, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport has paid great attention to the administration, competition activities, and activities of the training courses for coaches, referees, and judges in all national sports federations, which the Ministry has provided funding to help accelerate the development of sports in Cambodia.

In fact, playing sports allows young people to get to know each other, build friendships, solidarity, communication, and build peace, as well as bring other benefits. Not only that, sports play a role as vehicle in establishing diplomatic relations and bringing people in communities together. Sports has also played an important role in connecting cultures and communities around the world.
