Preah Sihanouk Province: Secretary of State of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and the Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, H.E. Vath Chamroeun, stated that at the press conference of the 2025 World Kun Khmer Championship in the afternoon of November 23 that, Preah Sihanouk province will be a destination for organizing major world-class Kun Khmer competitions, confirming the identity of the event, just like the US state of Las Vegas, where major world-class boxing competitions are held there.
His Excellency the Secretary of State emphasized that, in order to let this coastal potential province to become the identity province where the world-class Kun Khmer competitions to be promoted internationally, which Cambodia will host, will be held in Preah Sihanouk Province every year from 2025 onwards.

World Kun Khmer Championship will not only highlight and promote Kun Khmer, which is the national identity sport to make it famous. But it has helped raise the self-value of our Cambodian athletes, and the world will be interested in Cambodia and consider Cambodia as a destination to come and watch the Kun Khmer competitions with famous players competing at a professional level for the world belt in Preah Sihanouk Province. Therefore, all parties involved in this organization must plan together to achieve the vision.
His Excellency the Secretary of State emphasized that, the world championship that Cambodia is organizing has no any ambition to compete with any country. This organization is for Cambodia to strengthen itself, become famous, and especially to help itself be valuable. All of this and make more international members of the International Kun Khmer Federation, will help Cambodia achieve its goal of including Kun Khmer in the Olympics.

At the same time, H.E. Samuth Sothearith, Deputy Governor of the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Government, highlighted that organizing the 6th World Kun Khmer Championship 2025 on the coastal area of Preah Sihanouk Province has truly demonstrated the integration of tourism activities that attract more visitors to relax and have fun in Preah Sihanouk Province. The Preah Sihanouk Provincial Administration is ready to organize a working group to cooperate with the national security and order work team in organizing the 6th World Kun Khmer Championship 2025 from December 17-21, 2025 at the Techo Field to create a happy and peaceful atmosphere.
H.E. Khov Chhay, President of the Kun Khmer Federation and Acting Secretary General of the International Kun Khmer Federation, said that the joint collaboration between the National Kun Khmer Federation and the International Kun Khmer Federation to organize the 6th World Kun Khmer Championship on this beautiful coastal land is another great historical event for Cambodia, which shows the two federations’ joining hands as one to help urge the promotion of Kun Khmer with energy towards excellence on the international stage more quickly. His Excellency the Acting Secretary General of the International Kun Khmer Federation highlighted that the support of the Royal Government, the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Administration, and various private sectors companies have worked an important role in not only promoting the sport of Kun Khmer, but also helping to promote the national culture and identity of the Khmer people on the international stage.

Relating to the 6th World Kun Khmer Championship 2025 from December 17-21, 2025, as of November 22, 2025, there are 37 countries registered to participate in the competition from Southeast Asia, Asia and Europe, including 23 countries that have received the list and 14 countries that have not received the list but are sending it in the future. The 5-day competitions consist of amateur matches at the adult and junior levels for medals and professional matches which compete to win two belts for one-day with Cambodian top players competing against foreign players from various countries. Please confirm that the 5th World Kun Khmer Championship in 2024 in Siem Reap province only had 18 countries participating. While in 2025, there were 37 participating countries, which is a 100% increase.
