The Major Angkor Empire Marathon Day of Cambodia has been selected by prestigious Forbes magazine as one of the 12 most attractive international marathon destinations in the world in 2026.

The magazine has based in the United States has described about the Angkor Empire Marathon Day is the best event that takes place in Cambodia’s famous Angkor region, running through rice fields, picturesque villages and 40 beautiful ancient temples. What’s more special, it also travels past the magnificent Angkor Wat temple complex, a World Heritage Site.

Relating to the selection by Forbes, H.E. Vath Chamroeun, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC), considered it a matter of pride for Cambodia and that the NOCC was also pleased to select the Angkor Empire Marathon Day as one of the best running destinations in the world in 2026. H.E. Vath Chamroeun hopes that the participation of the popular Forbes magazine will contribute to attracting more runners from all over the world to come to Cambodia’s famous Angkor region.

The Angkor Empire Marathon Day was established in 2014 and takes place in August every year. In 2025, this major event of Cambodia attracted a total of more than 4,200 national and international runners.
