The Program of Women’s Equality in Sports Sector Contributes to Urge Women’s Activities in Sports to be better

On Tuesday afternoon, December 30, 2025, working team of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC) traveled to Samdech Ov Secondary School in Preah Sihanouk Province to organize an educational program on Olympic values ​​and women’s equality in sports sector, with the participation of nearly 200 female students from grades 7 to 9.

H.E. Buy Sophoan, Advisor to the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC) and is an instructor for this program, said that the first part of the program shares about the Olympic values, the Olympic Movement, and the history of the Olympic Games. Then, all the young women participated to train Badminton at the SBC Badminton Club in Samdech Ov High School to promote the campaign “One Young Woman Plays One Sport for Life.”

H.E. Buy Sophoan hopes that, after this session, young female students at Samdech Ov High School will participate to sport more and more, especially Badminton, because it is suitable for women could play it and does not cause physical problems like some other sports. At the same time, all young women participated to play sports enthusiastically, which is a good activity for health.

H.E. Buy Sophoan also confirmed that, the program of Women’s Equality in Sports Sector is under the project of Olympic Council of Asia to promote women’s awareness of Olympic values, and encourage women to participate playing sports, and gender equality in sports sector which women have the same rights to participate playing sports as men, different from the ancient Olympics that women could not play sports.

For female teacher, Hang Sokla, a physical education and sports teacher at Samdech Ov High School, said that all of her students showed great joy and happy to participate in listening to the sharing of the history of the Olympic Movement and participating to play sports, which allowed all young women to understand about the value of sports and health.
